Water Filtration
Potassium chloride is commonly used in water filtration systems to filter calcium and magnesium out of our everyday drinking water. It was first used instead of sodium chloride so that people who were at a high risk for sodium intake would avoid that risk. However, as the risks of sodium chloride were assessed for environmental and health standards and new alternative was found: potassium chloride. Potassium chloride softens drinking water and provides a healthy but small dose of potassium for our bodies.
