Back in 1807, a British chemist by the name of Sir Henry Davy was experimenting and playing around with potassium and what the element could do. By using the method of electrolysis applied to extremely heated potash, Davy was able to discover potassium chloride. He then sparked a movement in the scientific world since he had proved that electrolysis was a viable option to separate elements and discover new compounds.
